The presentation will focus on the current state of religious education in Greece. While Orthodox Theology remains the foundational aspect of the curriculum, the pedagogical approach adopted is transformative in nature, allowing for the inclusivity of all students, irrespective of their religious beliefs.
Marios Koukounaras Liagkis is an Associate Professor of Pedagogy and Religious Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). He studied theology, education, and Greek literature. His research interests focus on Learning and teaching, Teacher’s professional development, Inclusive Education, and Drama/Theatre in Education. His current projects concern Competences for Democratic Culture in Education.
